His memory is pretty damned good. He may well remember some vague memories about that season.

Sorry for not seeing this sooner - the only memory I have about the '68 season is doing Halloween that year (probably just the block around my house, considering how young I was) in a baseball uniform, face made up like a tiger. My sister Debbie, who would turn two in late November, wore a bird costume as the cardinal. I don't remember much from the Halloween itself, but my mom had a photo of this at one time; hopefully she still has it.
My dad says he took me to two games as a baby; in 1966 and '68. I remember nothing about either game except what Dad told me about them later; he says I slept through one of the games completely (probably the '66 game), that McLain pitched one of the games (I believe the '66 effort), and that the Tigers won at least one of the games, and possibly both. Sorry for not having better recall, but things are like that when you're young.
The earliest Tiger game I have distinct memories of would be around 1975, a late-season game against the Rangers. I went with either my Cub Scout den or the crossing guard at Lincoln Elementary School; one of those years the Tiger game was the only reason I joined the crossing guard. The game itself was mundane; the Tiges fell behind early and it stayed that way the rest of the game - so I wandered into the upper deck and noticed the ornamental cast-iron tigers holding baseball bats at the end of the seat-rows. Everything was green in the upper deck; I got worried about getting lost and soon returned to my section - next time I returned, the renovation had taken place and everything was blue plastic. Some of the Comerica Park seats have the iron tigers, but the design is slightly different than what I remember from the old stadium.
