Alexis Gomez-OF- Tigers Jan. 4 - 11:31 am et
The Rockies have agreed in principle on a nonguaranteed contract with free agent Alexis Gomez.
The Rockies wanted one more left-handed bat, but Gomez is a weaker option than Cory Sullivan to serve as the team's fifth outfielder. The 28-year-old has hit .259/.308/.342 in 158 at-bats as a major leaguer.

Thanks - I was waiting with baited breath to see where Alexis would end up.
Oh, and what about Gene Kingsdale? Who did he sign with?

Is Alexis Gomez the next step up from Shane Halter (at least as far as this message board is concerned?)

If that proves to be true, I am going to be sooooo bitter.

No, it's going to be someone like Deivi Cruz or (heaven help us) Rico Brogna.

I was kind of hoping for Ricky Peters or Stan Papi. But with my luck it will be Justin Thompson.

Or the ever-popular Tony Giarratano - in my record collection (the same one that sadly has a copy of Paul Hardcastle's "19") there's a jazz album, recorded sometime in the late '40s, on which a Steve Giarratano played saxophone. Does anyone know if this is the father/grandfather/any relation of Tony? I mean, how many Giarratanos can there be?
