I know college hockey isn't on most folks radar, but once again, one of the most thrilling games of the year in any sport has come from the NCAA Hockey tournament. As a single elimination tournament, the intensity of every game is like an NHL Game 7.
Last nights game was absolutely edge-of-your-seat the entire time, and an excellent showcase for why a 1-0 game can be the most exciting score (essentially 1-0, there was an empty net).
If you get a chance, try to check out the Championship Game tomorrow night as Michigan plays Minnesota-Duluth for all the marbles.

A few years ago, the Post Office puts a hardcore Communist on a postage stamp, and no one says boo. But THIS gets people in a tizzy. Yes, it does say a lot about our culture.

Next year we need a pool where everybody guesses the date that Joel Zumaya's season officially ends.

Wow, you are assuming there is a next year, let alone a this year.
Mark Fidrych Kevin Saucier Jose Lima
Joel Zumaya
Does it seem that the Tigers have a history of flamboyant, energetic pitchers that grab the fan's attention, and rapidly decline after a couple of years?

Zumaya is my fault. I used to always say it was stupid to get a jersey with a current players name on it because they could soon suck, be injured, cut or traded.
Well when the Tiger's went to the World Series I won a contest at work and the prize was 1st pick between a Zumaya and a Verlander jersey. I picked Zumaya partly because of the sexyness of it, but more importantly it was an XL and the JV one was a L.
Well since then his career has sucked. I think I screwed him.

I'd rather have a top flight starter than a top flight reliever, so you could claim you took one for the team in selecting Zumaya.

I'm sure I'm going to hell for this vent, but here goes.
Dear media and journalists. Shut the fuck up when someone in your business dies. I don't care.
If you are going to "report" or "comment on" how wonderful an "average joe" secretary or accountant or producer was and how many people they impacted to thousands or millions of people, then either:
(a) do the same for every single person in the world, or
(b) also report to a million people the dirt on the same people. When Sally in accounting gets divorced, or her kid gets pulled over for drunk driving, or fucks the boss, this should also be broadcast to the world.
